Venom Extraction & Venom in Medicine with Nathaniel Frank of MToxins Venom Lab
Welcome to episode 32 of Daffy’s round table.
Living in Canada snake bites are not something we have to worry about too often but in some parts of the world snake bites can be a big problem.
The world health organization estimates around 1.8-2.7 million envenomations each year. These bites end up in limb amputations, permanent disabilities and in many cases death. Most of these bites happen in Africa, Asia & Central & South America where in many areas medical resources are sparse. Unfortunately.
Regardless where you are in the world one of the best things you can do to prepare yourself for a bad situation is to actually learn about snake venom, what it does, why snakes bite you in the first place and what to do when you do get bit.
My guest today is Nathaniel Frank from the MToxins Venom Lab! Nathaniel is the perfect guest to teach us about snake bites dos and donts. We’re also going to learn all about venom extractions and hear his story’s working with venomous animals everyday.
